working

The Internet is finally working at home (woo-woo!!) and I set it up so the entire network can see it. just turned the boxes on and they worked, no configuration nessasary (it's nice to have computers that were set up correctly the first time)

no wireless yet and the place is still a mess. I can't find the powercable to my laptop, that is going to be needed before I can work on the wireless network. The web cam I haven't worked on yet either but it should be up sometime this week. I think I am going to put it in a top corner of the computer room again, it seemed to work well there.

A lot of work is need to get the computer room and the entire house up to where it needs to be. for one thing I have to find a place for some of the fish tanks that are just sitting around right now. there are lots of shelves that need to go up, many computers that need to be added to the network. just lots of things to do in general.

I did a bad thing and spent money yesterday... but I got a REALLY good deal on a $210 set of computer speakers for $65. they are being attached to the television with the blown speakers. up until now we have been watching TV with the little tiny $5 computer speakers... if you have ever tried that the sound really sucks, everyone sounds whiny.

I got a lot done yesterday but not as much as I needed to, same with this weekend, some stuff done at work but not as much as I really need to do... My project list is still a lot bigger than what I would like. I think I am going to have to cancel the stuff for this coming weekend so I can finish up on it.. oh well, no rest for me.

Telephone, the saga continues

So the phone company still hasn't fixed the phone line laying in our front yard.

Last night we got DSL hooked up.

This morning we no longer had a dialtone.

I called the phone company, they said that there is a problem with our phone service and it will be fixed by tomorrow. They can't even look into burying our cable however because we don't have a dial tone. I told them to call me when they fix the dial tone so I can yell at them about fixing the cable.

I just called them and said flat out. 'The phone will be fixed today', They are going to call me back, we will see how that goes.

I did a search in the livejournal intrest list for 'llamas'

there are 40 groups and over 1000 people with llamas as their intrest. One of the groups is called 'llamaporn'

This scares me, really it does.
