more paranoia
Aug. 1st, 2001 03:37 pmSo a friend of mine got on IM and asked for a shell account. I said 'sure' checked my server and she already had an account I had set up a long time ago. so I tell her and she says ok.. then she comes back a few seconds later and informs me that she has forgotten her password....
me being the paranoid freak that I am says ok and spends 10 minutes thinking of something only the two of us would know, changing the password to that and the describing it over IM so she would know what it is. how do I know that the person I am talking to on IM is actually her.. and even if it is how do I know that some one isn't listening in on our conversation....
all part of being me I guess... it's sad when you start trying to form equations to figure out your friends are who they say they are, the first step to security - trust nothing is true. everything must first prove itself before you believe it. hmmmmm
