Problems with Delta's computer system today... apparently they have my name in twice for the same account number but the name is slightly different in each of the iterations so the flights come up but I can't make changes to them... sigh...

Oh, punkin. I'm sorry. I won't touch that accounts/skymiles shit with a ten meter pole, but I could sail a paper airplane over to the people who do.

Are you trying to do stuff online? Call reservations (800-221-1212)if you haven't yet; they can work magic.

I had that but with first name/middle name instead of slightly different spellings....Had to fax them a copy of my driver's license with a note to merge the 2 together into one....

I called them.. they said they aren't able to fix the online problem but they changed my ticket for me over the phone.

but I have the feeling this problem will crop up every time I book a flight then try to change it.

not a different spelling.. I have a II on the end of my name.. it's supposed to go in the "suffix" part but for some reason it ended up as an addition to my last name.

I asked around: it isn't even us, it's inhouse to Delta. But the other thing about talking to a person rather than just dicking around online is that it gets reported, which gives it a greater chance of it getting fixed sometime in the next three years. :-\

Yeah... hopefully they will figure it out...

but until then I have the feeling it's going to keep cropping up considering I travel a LOT and change my tickets around just as much.

eh, oh well.. I guess I am just going to be doing a lot of calling.

Like lisabelle said, if you actually call to make a ticket change, it's much better-- then the agent you're talking to usually opens up your previous record and makes changes there, whereas the online system probably sends a message which, if it can't find a match on your name, will start a new record.
