I've seen the same kind of questions posed to rural Frenchmen, to English soccer houligans, Canadians, and Australians (mainly because I don't understand other languages in which this banal journalistic trick is performed).

Taxes are a necessary thing, having neither good nor bad qualities.

Football is entertainment. What is entertaining differs from person to person.

A funny example: The norwegian tourism board tried to determine how well known norway is around the world by interviewing random people asking them what they knew of norway.

Scandinavia and Germany had the most number of correct replies (logically, at least for Scandinavia).
After them came... USA. Indeed, it turned out that a single mother with no education and 3 kids knew more about norway (including details like "Who is Grieg?", name two plays by Henrik Ibsen, and whether we have polar bears in the street (no),

than the ones that came on last place, which were...

30 different people from the french intellectual elite knew less than any random american. ;)
