I miss hanging out with my friends

Why would anyone drive a BMW? it confuses me
1. it makes everyone think you are a prick (with good reason)
2. They are butt ugly
3. You pay a lot of money for an emblem that goes on the front
4. compared to cars 1/2 it's price it's slow and has very little power
5. you can't haul anything with it.
6. it seems a requirement that you have to drive like an asshole
The only thing I can think of is people who want others to think they have money to burn on useless objects buy them. I want to get a Hummer just so I can run over bmw's when they do stupid things.

I can't wait to get setteled in my new house and regular paychecks again, it will be so nice to have FOOD!!

I have been playing with 802.11b lately, very interesting stuff. I am having some fun looking at the things people put out on the airwaves :-D

when we get the new place everyone is invited over to come sit by the lake...

threesomes are fun, I need more of them in my life

where did I put my cellphone?

girl goes to work in 30 miuites, I should put pants on

I will be helping steve and elizabeth move today, they bought a house (woo-woo) I hope to be doing that in another 12 months

where am I going to come up with a quick $1000 in the next 7 days?

why do recruiters keep calling me, it's not like they have real jobs or anything.

I really miss hanging out with my friends. I need to have a get together soon

noone is ever on irc when I am on

The hobbit was a good book, the chapters were a little funny, one of them was 30 pages and one of them was 3... it wasn't very consistant. I liked lord of the rings a lot (the book) and the movie now pisses me off. I didn't see any ents in the preview for the next one and I am going to be PISSED if they leave them out!!

when I get the new house I think I am going to get a new friend for my puppy, she needs one... something big, like a mastif.

I need to put in this 40 gig hard drive I just aquired. (traded it for parts) it will be good for the dr. who I am slowly downloading.

james and laura's tonigh, I should make some pie or a cake or something, I think I have most of the stuff for it.

BMW's have great fit and finish, very reliable, good on fuel, they aren't that slow (not sure where you got that from, they do ok, a FUCK LOAD quicker than a Hummer) handle nice, ect ect. They're a good car. And depending on the one you get, you can "haul" quite a bit, like in a 328i Touring, the wagon.

Okay, BMW's are overpriced. I can admit that.
There are faster cars for less money. I can admit that too.
If I was looking to buy a BMW, I would prolly get an Audi, because they are almost as (adjective) but cost much less.
BMW's strength is handling. it takes a world class sportscar at 2x the price to out manuever a BMW. or a motorcycle, but that is completely different. Then there is the creature comfort category. I have never driven a car that felt like a BMW. My father has had two of them (back in the 80's) both 735i (their top of the line at the time). mom currently has a 323is. I've driven all thre a good bit, plus others. I went and test drove an M-class Z3 last time I was car shopping ( I got the van instead). I had a nissan altima, 5 speed. I had put 80,000 miles on that altima in 3 years, so you could say I was quite used to it. when I got behind the wheel of that z3 I felt like the car had been built for me. everything was exactly where it was supposed to be, and all the other things, like the stiffness of the clutch, the tightness of the steering, all perfect. I drove that car less then 15 miles for my test drive, and I got out, got back in my altima and stalled it twice trying to leave the parking lot. I am glad I didn't get the bmw now, 'cause shortly after that I changed jobs and started earning a lot less money. but oh, I still dream.
and there is no requirement to drive like an asshole just because you have a bmw. I would. but my mother doesn't. of course, I drive like an asshole no matter what I drive. I guess having a bmw doesn't make you an asshole, being an asshole makes you want to drive a bmw.

they are very slow. for 1/3 the price of a BMW I got a mustang GT police edition with the interceptor engine. if I wan to haul something I put a trailer on the back... even with the cost of a trailer I still come out tens of thousands less than the BMW.

They are NOT good on fuel, I have seen the econamy rating, they get about what I do and I have a 5.0

great fit and finish? I have no idea what you mean by that...

if you are going for comfort get a mercades, or do like I did, get a mustang and put Z's on it.

I have NEVER seen someone in a BMW who doesn't drive like an asshole. I am just glad we have that blue and white label on our asholes so we can tell who we need to watch out for when they cut us off, park in the middle of an intersection, won't let us in to a line of cars... etc

Fit and finish is a foreign idea now? It means, you sit in them, you don't have huge panel gaps on the dash and door. Shit doesn't squeak. The plastic is more like something you'd want to pay for, not like the Play-doh Fun Factory you had when you were 5.

It's one of those "buy good materials, engineer the product well, and have people who care assemble it" which the Mustang hasn't had in, well... yeah...

If you want to compare a Mustang to a BMW, you're going to have some odd issues there, because they are very different cars aimed at pretty different groups with different measuring sticks on what they want and don't in a car.

compare

Date: 2002-08-04 08:00 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hugs.livejournal.com
Compare it to anything... no other car screams 'I am a prick' louder than a bmw.

I have to drive through Buckhead on a regular basis, and it's ALWAYS a bmw that is sitting in the middle of an intersection blocking traffic, or that pulls in front of people, or that doesn't know the meaning of the word 'merge'

I would rather drive a pinto than a bmw, you know, the cars that explode when you hit them?

they are boxes with wheels, buy anything else in the 'class' you are looking for mercades, Lexus, benton, anything and you don't get the understanding that the person behind the wheel is a prick. They don't get good gas milage and there are plenty of cars much prettier (ANYTHING pretty much)

they are crapy cars and if you drive them you are a prick, I have not seen a single case that was different, not one.

ahem

"they are crapy cars and if you drive them you are a prick, I have not seen a single case that was different, not one."

As someone who owned a BMW-733i for many years, I have several issues with your claims.

  • 1. it makes everyone think you are a prick (with good reason)
I tend not to judge people based on the type of vehicle they drive, the operating system they use (http://www.livejournal.com/talkread.bml?journal=hugs&itemid=70659), or various other personal preferences. More telling & important to me are: Do they keep promises? Are they liars? Do they show any consideration for those around them, or are they solely focused on their own egos and self-gratification? Do they know how to use spellcheckers? Should they be medicated & receiving therapy before being allowed out in public or online?
  • 2. They are butt ugly
IYO. I feel the same way about VW vans.
  • 3. You pay a lot of money for an emblem that goes on the front
Only if you buy new, which (unless you are too wealthy to be concerned by such matters) also applies to Mercedes, Hummers, Ferraris, etc. I paid much less for my used BMW than you did your new Mustang.
  • 4. compared to cars 1/2 it's price it's slow and has very little power
Care to name an example of one of those cars? Again, I paid less money for my BMW than you did your Mustang. And I've been in your (two person) Mustang when you've driven it at high speed; it probably would accelerate faster than my (4-door) sedan, but my ride was much smoother at ~140mph than yours was at ~90mph; as German cars, they are designed for high-speed travel over long distances, not quick starts and stops. You'll also notice (if you look) that BMWs come in several configurations, depending on what you want.
  • 5. you can't haul anything with it.
Sorry, you're wrong. I carried a lot of stuff around in my BMW, and I pulled trailers with it.
  • 6. it seems a requirement that you have to drive like an asshole
That's rather funny, coming from you. How many people have sworn they'll never ride with you driving ever again?

I don't deny that I'm a prick, but usually only when provoked. Plus, I use my turn signals & check over my shoulder before changing lanes.

i was bummed when i found they did not have cable service in Palmetto where i moved, but went with DishNetwork, and i am much happier with there product and service hands down. most installers when they put in a dish, are only required to get a 70 on there signal strength from the sat, but the company i used got a 125 out of a possible 125 on both sats that i am hitting. the price is almost the same as cable. i also got a PRV on one of my receivers ( which is like a TIVO) and the only thing i paid up front for was the $50.00 dollar startup fee. let me know if you want his number, if nothing more than price comparison.

BMW's are so 1980's, IMO. I think that people who drive them probably wear yellow power ties, have feathered hair, are working on their MBA and use a Kaypro!
