conventions and stuff...

this weekend is kunicon in atlanta. it's $22 for the convention... 3 days of parking at the hotel is $45

why do people have conventions in places where they know good and damn well the parking is going to be twice as much or more than the cost of a ticket to get in, this is stupid... I am really getting sick of it. There are PLENTY of hotels outside of downtown that will be more than willing to hold your convention.. many of them have FREE parking. I am sitting here wanting to go to the convention but the only reason I am not jumping at the chance to go is the cost of parking. I don't mind paying the money for the con, I do mind paying for a place to put my car EVEN if I'm a guest at the hotel.

this is just stupid....

MARTA! surely it'll take you somewhere near enough....besides you should be going to animazement instead of wasting your time on the corporate run kunicons.....mass produced anime cons=total flop. oh well, could be a fun little weekend in town adventure! good luck!

what is animazement?

I would be going more for the martial arts stuff and entering the kicking and board breaking tournments... which means I need all my martal arts gear... hauling that crap on a train then 3 block through the city would be a pain in the ass. not to mention marta doesn't run at night, it stops running at midnight I believe and doesn't start up again until 5 or 6...

so if I wanted to stay for the party/dance event (which I would) then I will be screwed.

ah yes, i see...hmm...well, i'm not sure how much martial arts stuff there is at animazement, i know there is some, i've just never really looked into it. it's a fantastic anime con in NC this weekend, i wouldn't trade it for anything(and the parking is free!), definitely the best anime con in this part of the country, something about the people, not sure, i totally understand about MARTA though, getting all my costume stuff to D*con every year is definitely a debaucle!

high priced con parking is super lame...bottom line...i'm sure the kunicon people are taking suggestions, since it's the first year and all, perhaps you could give them a tip or two on hotel choice!
