Ok, if any one has called me in the last oh... month and a half I haven't gotten the message and will never recieve it... here is the story of why Cingular wireless sucks monkey balls...

So my phone breaks, completely stops working. My carrier just switched from AT&T to Cingular so I call the new number. The lady gets my information and then says "I will now need to call the warrenty repair office, please hold" well 3 HOURS later she gets back on the line and says "Our Warrenty repair office isn't answering due to high call volume, I will suggest that you call them directly in 2 hours when they shouldn't be as busy." Ok, that's find, at least I won't have to wait on hold. it's 5:30... at 7:30 EXACTLY when I was instructed to call I dial the number she gave me for Warrenty repair and receive a message "I am sorry, our warrenty department is open from 8 in the morning until 7 in the evening" WTF?!?

I call back early the next morning when the wait for warrenty repair is only 1.5 hours.

I get my phone 2 days later, it is all knicked up and there are the words "Local Mode" burned onto the screen. Great. I put the batter and my Simm card into the phone and it doesn't come on, I let it charge all night and it still doesn't come on. So this time I go by the Cingular Wireless store. Wow those people are fucking useless.. if my life was that useless I think I would kill myself. They can do NOTHING. So I call again.. hold time is 2 hours and 15 minutes for Warenty repair.

I get ANOTHER phone. put in the Simm card and the battery and it doesn't work.

I am sick of it by this time... (mostly the hold time) so I call up their number to discontinue service... they ask for one more chance, they are going to send me a new phone, battery and simm card. I say ok and two days later I get the phone. Now, I bought a nokia 6820b which folds out to a full keyboard. When I bought it it retailed for $599 (it now retails for $499) and I paid $350 for it with my contract. The new phone I recieved was a Motorola 551, a VERY basic phone which retails at $199...

Whatever, I just want a working phone. except that they didn't program my new SIMM card.

I called up and cancled my service... they told me I would have to pay for December and pay to cancel my contract. I told them they could kiss my ass, I was not paying for either and they owed me $200 for the phone I PAID for. When I get my bill I am supposed to call their accounting department...

You better fucking believe I will...

I have service with T-mobile now, I SHOULD get my phone tomorrow evening (according to Amazon). It's a Sidekick II and after all the rebates I am recieving I will have paid -$1.00 for the phone... (yes that is a negitive sign in front of it) I actually think I would have prefered the vx9800 but there is no information about how much text, and data service costs on Verizion's web site or any of their partners. Oh well... maybe next time.

You should have gotten Verizon and been "in" with the rest of us.

Well, no cool points for me...

Like I said I wanted to but they don't have enough information on their service and there isn't an easy way to find out.

Even from the website or going to a store...that's odd.

yeah, it had a LOT of info about phone services... but nothing at all about text or data... also i couldn't find any information on if the phone did ssh or not.

either way, it's a SWEET phone.. 1.3 megapixl camera with a decent size lens... and 2 full screens with speakers like a PC

is that your new phone or the Vphone thingy that's so sweet. I've been toying with the idea of getting one of the v phones which is why I'm asking.

Cool, verizon has a deal that you can turn in your old phone and get $100 credit towards your new phone so that's what I'm thinking about doing.

I seem to recall that Verizon modifies their phones and strips them of functionality in order to charge you more? Not sure if it was Verizon or someone else, but there was complaints of some american provider that disabled bluetooth file transfer to make people send files through their pay/picture service and so on.

1. So what you are saying is that Cingular wireless has the ability to make any monkey happy?

2. Good luck getting your money from them

and 3. T-Mobile Rocks! ;-)

Tmobile is a pretty decent provider but man... sidekicks are nothing but trouble. They break constantly. Be careful with it.

you know I have heard that in all the reviews but every person who I know and have talked to with a sidekick hasn't had any trouble at all with it.

Yeah, I've had each of the sidekicks.. some people go through three of them trying to get a good one... I had surprisingly good luck (and I beat the hell out of phones..).. they lasted about a year each with me.

Then Danger's servers were getting overloaded, and their services started getting slower..

So I went back to the BlackBerry's, and I'm not going to anything else unless they totally lose this patent case, and can't provide service anymore.

I can't stand the blackberry... I have one that I use for work and just don't like it at all...

for one thing the OS is counter intuitive... for example to delete all of your e-mail you have to scroll all the way up to the date tab at the top and click the 'delete pryor' option. If you get e-mail like I do at work and have to scroll through 500 or so it takes 5-6 minutes of doing nothing but sitting there scrolling up.

the buttons are cumbersome and difficult to type on

if you have events come up you can either open them or dismiss them... but you cannot do anything else on the phone until you pick one of those options.

if you have a lot of events, even general events you have to get through all the event menu's before you can do anything

hmmm, good DOS attack for the blackberry... e-mail the person 1000 events and watch them try to click through them

I have more gripes about the blackberry, like the stupid button rollerball but I will stop there.

btw, this was a common problem for me.. if signal becomes VERY hard to get all the time, and when you do get it, it's very fleeting..

pop open the back cover, and find the antenna lead, it'll pop out of it's socket if it gets dropped too much.. just pushes back in..

I guess it's how you take care of it...but I had the Sidekick I for over a year when I purchased the Sidekick II. I did have one problem with it but they replaced it immediately. But I have not had any issues with it since. In the summer (after the warranty had run out), it even took a bath in the Chattahoochee River while turned on. I let it dry out and it's still amazingly works. But if you're rough with it, I can see how people could have problems.

Man thats screwed up. I don't understand why you had all that trouble with the 6820. I had/have the previous model the 6800 and had great luck with it. Only reason I don't still use it is no blue tooth. I keep it as a back up if my 6620 or the wifes V3 craps out.

Cingular repair service is now just like everybody else. They all have the same system of get on the phone with customer disservice they send you a refurb. They use to have shops where you could go in and get it repaired or a replacement on the spot that you could check before you left the building. I use to run one of those shops.

As for T-Mobile.......good luck. Watch your butt on stuff like "in network out of network charges. They have system only in major cities. The rest of the time they roam.......Off Cingular.

Here is what you need to do when you get that next bill and they try to fawk you over. Call Customer service. Calmly explain how the repair center repeatedly screwed you over with junk used phones then you were sent a phone with not even close to the same features as the full key pad machine you got. Remember this person is just doing their job and their asshole manager is going to be the person that will hold the cards on what they will let you do. Hopefully you will talk to the folks in Cedartown and not FL or TX. I know a few of the managers of Cedartown and they are usually pretty good about working things out.

Explain they failed to hold up their end of the deal as to why you are not liable for disconnect charges and any other charges because they failed to provide service. When the first line attempts to blow you off ask to speak with the manager. If they blow you off ask to be transfered to "the office of the president". They will either change their tune or transfer you. You will never speak to the pres but you will speak to somebody that has the power to override all the BS.

Just My 2 Cents

I've had the Sidekick I for a year and now the Sidekick II for another year. I've always had Data roaming turned on and have never been charged extra for it. I've been up and down the east coast and driven out to Denver. Yes, it changes networks when you're not in T-Mobile's territory, but T-Mobile has deals with Cingular and other providers to be able to use their network. As for data roaming...I either haven't been in a place where they'd charge me (because of agreements) or I wouldn't get data signal at all. Of course, there's still text messages which are unlimited in the plan...so communication is still possible. Yeah, T-Mobile's network is still not great but with their agreements and the fact that the only places I didn't get signal at all, no one did, have made it ok. I'm sure there are places still that you can't get service where other's can, like Verizon, but I'm still happy with mine.

I've heard nothing but grief about Cingular, no matter who had them. I even had a person standing next to me try to call my (Sprint) phone from their Cingular phone and it told them "Not allowed." Infuriating.

So I guess that's why you never responded to my voicemail proposing marriage? Hmph. Likely story. Well too late, I'm off to Bora Bora with Ricardo, never to be seen again. ;)
