more reasons why Microsoft sucks

in my cube I have a sticker that says "Microsoft will create something that doesn't suck when they start manufacturing vacuum cleaners" that held very true today.

so we have a site... we will say test.net that uses ssl encryption. there are many variants of this site... www.test.net test123.test.net...etc... so for the certificate we use a wildcard. *.test.net

This works in every browser...except one... IE7 it works in some of the previous version we have tried... but not IE7...

Microsoft's official stance is that this is a 'security feature' and not a bug. I have 2 things I think it could be... first it may be a bug they just don't want to fix so they are calling it a "new standard" or second... it could be a way for cert locations to make money by charging companies for every variation of the web site.

either way it's just more Microsoft stupidity...

Our software has issues with IE7 as well.

it was actually another group who was having this problem but a lot of the groups bring things to me. Took me less than a minute to figure out what it was...

There is an old bug I loved with IE7... you would give it a meta tag pointing to a ftp site called "ftp://*\." (I think that was it) and it would completely crash the host machine... I set up a page with that on it and would tell people to go to it... I pissed off SO many people, but they all switched to a different browser... :-)

They keep upgrading it and it seems toget slower and slower everytime.
