Jul. 17th, 2008 05:38 pmpeople can be so stupid sometimes: "Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price is sticking to his comments that the term "black hole," which a colleague used, is racist.Price also says language such as "angel food cake" and "devil's food cake" are also racially insensitive."
oh, so it's not a black hole, it's a photon-challenged hole?

Date: 2008-07-18 03:13 am (UTC)No wonder people don't watch the news so much anymore. It has devolved into crazies vying for their 15 minutes of fame.

Date: 2008-07-24 10:21 am (UTC)It's still better for you to pick slave or master yourself whether you are on a PC or a MAC.
the slave/master setting has to do with the IDE technology... if the system, no matter who makes it, uses an IDE drive then it has a master and slave setting.

Date: 2008-07-24 10:48 am (UTC)And newer computers, at least the PCs and Macs I've seen, offer no option for setting slave or master anymore with SATA.

Date: 2008-07-24 11:14 am (UTC)ALL ide drives have a master/slave setting, most of the new ones have a cable select setting too.
Older PC's used scsi too.. it's a technology which has been around a lot longer than IDE. I have more PC's at my house that use scsi drives than ones that use IDE. it's a real pain in the ass sometimes because scsi drives are SO much more expensive.... currently I could really use a couple of 300 gig drives.
