people can be so stupid sometimes: "Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price is sticking to his comments that the term "black hole," which a colleague used, is racist.Price also says language such as "angel food cake" and "devil's food cake" are also racially insensitive."

oh, so it's not a black hole, it's a photon-challenged hole?

get a fucking life

Why is this even on the news? Who fucking cares what some idiotic commissioner thinks?

Figures it would be Fox News dragging this out.

Wasn't just Fox news. I've seen it all over the place. For a week or two now.

Oh, jeez, are you serious? All over some commissioner who thinks "blackhole" is racist?

No wonder people don't watch the news so much anymore. It has devolved into crazies vying for their 15 minutes of fame.

John Wiley Price has been chasing his 15 minutes for decades...he's the DFW version of Billy and Cynthia McKinney...

November 2003: Los Angeles County asks that manufacturers, suppliers and contractors stop using the terms 'master' and 'slave' on computer equipment, saying such terms are unacceptable and offensive.

That's why Macs always used Cable Select ;)

Yeah, very true. Love the SATA, beee the SATA

or something equally geeky. heheh

um... cable select is just a setting where the system decides which is slave and which is master. PC's have had cable select as long as it's been available too. Before that, both PC's and MAC's required you to manually select 'slave' and 'master'

It's still better for you to pick slave or master yourself whether you are on a PC or a MAC.

the slave/master setting has to do with the IDE technology... if the system, no matter who makes it, uses an IDE drive then it has a master and slave setting.

Oh lighten up, it was a reply to the comment about the expressions, Master/Slave being used. Also, many of the older Macs used SCSI. I know, because I have a couple of them, and on them you had to fiddle with the SCSI ID bit.

And newer computers, at least the PCs and Macs I've seen, offer no option for setting slave or master anymore with SATA.

Yes, but sata, like scsi... isn't IDE

ALL ide drives have a master/slave setting, most of the new ones have a cable select setting too.

Older PC's used scsi too.. it's a technology which has been around a lot longer than IDE. I have more PC's at my house that use scsi drives than ones that use IDE. it's a real pain in the ass sometimes because scsi drives are SO much more expensive.... currently I could really use a couple of 300 gig drives.
