The story goes from Gizmodo to anorak.co.uk to a blog post on Livedoor in Japan to a forum post elsewhere in Japan to an article in the International section of Sin Chew Daily in Malaysia (http://www.sinchew.com.my/node/102525?tid=2 - I looked at it via Google's translator). That looks to be the primary source and it carries the same information as the Gizmodo post.

I see what you're saying and I am inclined to agree. However, Sin Chew Daily is described as a major Chinese-language daily in Malaysia, so I wouldn't write it off out of hand.
