So I have a check from my last contract job, a pretty large check. Its made out to Tux Internet so I go and get my business license so I am now official. I then head out to the bank to open an account. I fill out the paperwork and they go do an equifax credit check on me and I get declined. the only thing that is mine on my credit report is Auto Nation.. they aren't reporting my credit card at all, and Scana is claiming I owe them $480 from 3 years ago on an account that never had a single bill paid on it and was now showing up on my credit as no pay.

So now I am sitting here with a check in my hand and nobody will cash it for me. Meanwhile I have bills getting late, rent coming up and a negative balance in my checking account.

as far as pieces of shit companies Equifax is only second to bell sloth.

Equifax is horrid. I still have stuff on my record from over 5 years ago that were in my ex husbands name that Equifax put on my record (despite it not being joint) . I've gone around and around with them for the past 3 years trying to get ti removed, and every time they say they will, they don't. Plus I have other stuff in dispute that they won't label as such. Bah. Good luck.

They won't let you open an account?!? Well, I guess it's time to find a new bank and make a call to Equifax. Grrr...

My Credit Union doesn't do business accounts.

I tried at 4 banks, they all say the same thing. I have and a long day of getting rejected over and over again.

2 more years and it will drop off anyway ;-)

That is why when you get married you shouldn't let the government know, it's none of their business anyway.

Sigh......
Well, if you can't find a bank that will take your money, I guess you're going to have to go back to the company who paid you and ask them to rewrite you the check? Such a hassle...

So...if the credit report is false, and you cannot get Equifax to fix it, can't you take legal action against them?
