So I still don't have health insurance.

Called Blue Cross Blue Shield "We have sent you 3 cards" well they sent them to the wrong address, they have been called with the new address SEVERAL times now but it hasn't worked. they are going to try AGAIN to send me a new card.

We are also going through a broker, our broker is an idiot, it's been 2.5 months and he can't get them to send me a card.

I called Blue Cross Blue shield and got my address changed AGAIN, so they are saying I am going to have to wait another 7 to 10 business days until my card comes in.

I hate dealing with insurance companies. they are slow they are dumb, they are a pain in the ass to deal with.

grrrrr

Not having a card does not equate not having insurance. If you have all of your info, you should be fine (i.e. policy number, group number, PPO or HMO?, policy holder's Social Security number, his/her workplace's name, policy holder's DOB). I do not think you need much more info than that.

wonna bet

you need to change that to 'not having a card is not supposed to equate not having insurance'

why?

I had blue cross blue shield before and this happend with them (I think it's in a journal entry of mine from about a year ago) I did not have a card or a book, but I had insurance. I looked up where I could go on THEIR web site and went to the hospital with all my numbers. the hospital called and Blue Cross said 'ok, that is fine' I did my $20 co-pay and it was all ok. a month later I got a bill from the hospital, I called them and they said that blue cross blue shield wasn't covering me. It turns out that I can only go to a 'hospital' if it's listed as a 'hospital' in their computer and not a 'medical phycility' or one of the other 20 names they have for a building with doctors in it. They told me that I would have had that information if I had had my card and booklet with me.

I argued with them for 4 hours, saying that the hospital had CALLED with my number and it had been aproved, also that it was on their web site as a place I could go. they told me that their web site was outdated and they had no record of the call.

I finally called the hospital and told them 'look I am not paying this bill, if you want money from it, call Blue cross blue shield.

I still got constant calls from both places, it took 2 months to get it all fixed (they finally paid but at the expenence of many many hours of my time)

so you see NOT having a card is the same as NOT having insurance. you will find that there is a big difference in what you are told and what the truth is.

Sorry to hear that everyone tries to screw you like that. I am now thankful that my experiences shuffling different insurance companies a few times a year have not been as bad. Good luck in the future, sweetie.
