Beating my head against the wall
Feb. 15th, 2009 09:27 amOk... so I have the new fileserver mostly built. The drives are ready and in place... they controller cards work... but there is a problem
The controller cards are PCIx 133.... I have 3 motherboards that have PCIx slots... 2 of them are 66 and one is 100... NOTHING is 133
suck
I'm not sure what I want to do... I don't want to buy more hardware for this thing but it's not looking like I have a choice.
sigh... we will see...

Comcast idiots
Feb. 13th, 2009 02:21 pmI've been getting a ton of error e-mails for a while now. I didn't think anything of it because everything was working fine and it didn't seem to be effecting the productivity of the server. Well, today I had to look through my trash folder. In the last 30 days I have received 360,000 error e-mails... wtf?!?
I found where they are coming from. The Comcast e-mail server. I run a lot of domains, some of the owners of these domains have Comcast e-mail accounts. So I forward their e-mail over to Comcast. In their infinite wisdom Comcast sends me 10-15 "return recipient unavailable" answers for every e-mail they consider spam.
I set my server in 'nice' mode so that users won't have their e-mail dropped if something goes wrong. My server holds onto their e-mail and keeps trying the Comcast server so the e-mail just piles on.
What are they thinking?!? How can a company get as big as Comcast and be so clueless about something as simple as e-mail. This isn't rocket science people.
Until they get a clue I'm making a rule about forwarding to Comcast accounts... it's NOT ALLOWED. This isn't the first time I've had a problem with Comcast's broken e-mail servers. It's not even the 10th time I've had problems with their e-mail servers. I forward to hundreds of servers, over 3 million e-mails pass through my server every day and they are they only one I've ever had a problem with.
ugh, stupid admin's piss me off....

There is a new picture gallery with some cool feature such as comments and ratings on all the images. Check it out, you my find your own picture on there somewhere!

Dec. 30th, 2008 01:51 pmNeed a place to stay and live right next door? The house is REALLY nice, new carpet (like 1 week new) huge kitchen, so many windows you won't need to use the lights at all during the day.
I thought I would ask my friends if they need a place to stay before putting the ad up on craigs list. Due to the state of the economy we are not only letting the rooms go cheap but giving a discount for paying rent early AND paying part of the utilities... (and renting for less to our friends then what we would put up for everyone else.
On top of all this I'm running a cable over to the other house so you can have access to the network here... meaning 2 terabytes of stuff one the file server.... (soon I'm going to be adding to that too)
Just comment to this, or email me at house (at) hugme (dot) org, or if you have either my number or
lovelylotus's number give us a call.
